US Gold Proof Coins
US gold proof coins are specially minted coins for collectors. Struck from specially prepared blanks using highly polished dies, these coins have a unique finish. Typically, the images are frosty set against a mirrored field for a very striking appearance. In a "Reverse Proof", the images are reflective while the field is frosty.
These coins are often found "slabbed" (sealed in air-tight plastic packaging), either in their original US Mint packaging, or by one of the third-party grading services such as PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) or NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America).
