U.S. NGC Gold Coins
NGC gold coins are those gold coins whose grading has been certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America (NGC). Founded in 1987, NGC's strives to provided a standard of accurate and consistent coin grading.
To ensure the highest levels of impartiality and accuracy, NGC only assigns a grade after 3 numismatic experts, each with decades of successful professional experience in rare coins, have evaluated a coin. A grading finalizer assigns a final grade and the coin is then sonically sealed in a protective, inert plastic holder.
In addition, NGC's full-time grading experts are not active in the commercial coin marketplace, as they are prohibited from buying or selling coins. This ensures the highest integrity of service. NGC is considered a "Tier 1" grading service and their grading is highly respected in the numismatic marketplace.
