$5 Half Eagles
The $5 Half Eagle is entitled to a couple of unique distinctions. It is the first gold coin ever minted by the U.S. government. In addition, the 1822 Half Eagle is generally regarded as the most valuable coin among the entire US coin series.
Among the $5 Half Eagle series are: Capped Bust, Classic Head, Liberty Head, and Indian Head. Early dates offer many varieties for the collector due to various design changes such as overdates, style of eagle, number of stars, sizes in the figures and dates.
