$2.50 Quarter Eagle gold pieces were struck between 1796 and 1929. Any dates prior to 1834 are considered rare.
 
The Quarter Eagles include the Capped Bust (1796-1834), Classic Head (1834-1839),  Liberty Head (1840-1907), and Indian Head (1908-1929) series.  All of these coins are prized among today's collectors and command respectable prices even in lower grades.
